Collier Schorr uses photography in order to address social issues of her past as well as her heritage. Her photography also is a commentary on societies’ idea of masculinity. She discusses how masculinity is not usually portrayed with a range of emotion. Men are usually portrayed as strong and heroic, at least that is what they usually like to be portrayed as. I definitely agree that men do not as much range when portrayed to the public. Their masculinity always seems to be compromised whenever it comes down to being perceived as feminine.
I liked how organic her images looked. I know some of her images are posed but they do not seem contrived or forced. She is really good at getting those perfect moments of calm, as she would put it.
